Touched by the love of Christ Crucified
and inspired by the joyful witness of St. Francis of Assisi,
Mother M. Anselma founded the Sisters of St. Francis of the Martyr St. George
in a little village in northern Germany.

Like St. Francis,
we have been called by God to take an active part in rebuilding the Church,
which was born from the Heart of the Crucified Christ.

Flowing out of His open side,
the charism entrusted to our Community
is to make the Merciful Love of Christ visible in our service.

In 1972 that love for the Church
and desire to make the Merciful Love of Christ visible
led to the founding of our mission in Brazil.
